AK Beer Week

It’s dark. It’s cold. It’s AK Beer Week.

Breweries across the State have come together for this annual extravaganza of artisan food, creative socials, enterprising events, and – of course – a lot of craft beer. It all kicked off last Friday with a first tap and a noble toast by Dr. Fermento at the Crossbar in Anchorage (with Midnight Sun, Broken Tooth, Arkose, and King Street). From then until the Great Alaska Beer and Barley Wine Festival today and tomorrow (16th and 17th January), Alaska’s great breweries have continued to unleash new beers, seasonal releases and just a whole lot more of the tasty suds we have all come to expect from the forward-thinking breweries of the Last Frontier.

There have already been several events happening across the State, including “Ice Curling and Craft Beer” at the Denali brewpub in Talkeetna, and “Pints for a Cause” at McGinley’s Pub in Anchorage. Coming up, there’s “Beer and Tacos and Cupcakes” at HooDoo Brewing in Fairbanks, and “Stouts and Oysters” at the Homer Brewing Company.

So why not check out the AK Beer Week facebook page, or visit their website, and see what’s happening near you? Some of the BRBC crew will also be at the Saturday session of the Great Alaska Beer and Barley Wine Festival, so if you happen to see someone with BRBC gear on, come say hi!
